Avg Rating: 5.0

Studio: Male Entertainment Network
Directed By: Joe Tolbe, Kitty Tsui
Release Date: 01-07-1987
Description: This video shows the men's portion of a gay bodybuilders' competition held in San Francisco, hosted by Dick Ferris and Betty Doza and sponsored by the San Francisco Eagle, Rawhide, the Galleon, Mercury Mail Order, The Gay Book. Men pose and flex, competing in categories of master (over 40), middle-weight, bantam, and light-weight. The men are not absurdly over built, but rather well-defined and pose with a minimum of finery that is usually limited to a tight speedo and occasionally an earring or a well-trimmed mustache. Each one gets up to strut to their own chosen song and all exhibit their special charm and muscles. Co-produced by Kitty Tsui and Joe Tolbe. Tolbe and bodybuilder/author/activist Tsui co-directed and co-produced the contest, which was the first gay and lesbian bodybuilding championship, in connection with the upcoming Gay Games III (where Tsui went on to win the gold medal in women's physique; she won the bronze in Gay Games II). Released by the Male Entertainment Network (MEN), a media company for the gay community, producing documentation of LGBTQ history in a unique fashion and capturing, in words and images, gay life in the '80s.
Length: 40
